I have been drawing pictures for as long as I can remember. The watercolors my draftsman dad painted fascinated me as a child. Mother, also had artistic talent and her father was an amateur cartoonist.
I grew up in Mt. Carmel, a small mining town in central Pennsylvania. I always knew
I was destined to draw pictures for a living. After graduating from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, I became a designer/illustrator for a number of design studios in the Pittsburgh area. Eventually, I entered into a partnership with two other artists to form the art studio, Rainbow Grinder. Our aspiration was to emulate the hip Push Pin Studios in New York. These days, I'm working in computer imagery, traditional watercolor and oil painting, and applying these skills in the publishing business.
Within the last few years, I have designed and illustrated murals for historical museums in Pittsburgh, Oil City, Annapolis and Kansas City. These works of art usually entail a visual history of people and events pertinent to the area.
Over the years, I have received numerous awards from the New York and Chicago Art Director's Club, Pittsburgh Visual Communications Society, and other associations who have promoted my work.
I live in Pittsburgh with my wife Lorraine. Both of my children are artistically talented, but pursuing other vocations. However my grandsons are very interested in drawing rocket ships, castles and monsters.
