I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.

My earliest memory of doing art as a child was when I was found daubing india ink on a freshly wallpapered living room wall.

 

I received my BFA at Mundelein College in Chicago and then went on for my MS and MFA at the University of Wisconsin, Madison (painting major).

 

I soon started my career of over 34 years at Pearson/ Scott Foresman, in Glenview Illinois. My many experiences while employed there ranged from book designer, illustrator, and prop-maker. 

 

For children's publishing, I specialize in age-appropriate "kid art" drawings and "kid created" props. When I am not busy creating at one of my art work stations at home, I can be found reading books- biographies, theology, art, and mysteries. I am also an incorrigible flea market and thrift shop collector. 

 

Over the years I have been very involved in my church: a former parish weekly Bulletin editor, parish photographer and currently a member of the handbell choir. My church has led me to travel as a missionary to Bolivia at 3 different times. The photo here shows the 11x40 foot mural I designed and painted (with the help of others in 3 days) on the outside walls of an inner city preschool in Sucre, the old provincial capital.  

 

I recently returned to acrylic painting on canvas (still lives) and have started to enter juried painting shows. My painting style is very different from my "kid art" creations.
